I’m a beauty addict! I love everything love everything about makeup, skincare, and hair from the products to the services. I’ve come to find that looking into the newest beauty trends and sharing my conclusions with others has become one of my favorite hobbies. When I learn of new products, I can’t wait to research them by watching videos of other beauty gurus, makeup artists, and enthusiasts. I use my reflections on their reviews, swatches, and pictures of the products to decide if they are worth buying. After buying the products, I’ll try them out myself and others with different skin types and tones to have a well-rounded review. Then, there’s nothing more rewarding than sharing my research and experiences with others so they can find out if the products are worth trying.

I’ve always had a passion for helping others learn; that’s why sharing my research of beauty products and services easily became a hobby for me. When I started to combine that with the joy I get from enhancing the beauty of others through makeup application, there’s nothing else I’d rather do. Those activities quickly became my favorite pastime; additionally, they’d help me by being an outlet and refugee for me during hardships. When some of my friends recommended that I start doing it full time and consider making it my career, I couldn’t think of a better option. If I had the opportunity to enjoy helping women look beautiful in addition to gaining and sharing knowledge on all things beauty, that would be the perfect career for me. I looked into it and found out that I could actually make a sustainable career out of my favorite activities. If I was able to pursue a career in makeup and skincare, I’d seemingly never working another day in my life. Every day would bring me the gratification of helping others and indulging in my beauty obsession. Therefore, I couldn’t wait to research and find out what it would take to make that happen. I learned that my state does not require any specific training or license to be a freelance artist; however, when it comes to pursuing a career in skincare, my state requires you to qualify as an esthetician or a skincare consultant. The esthetician programs that I looked into did not contain hardly any makeup lessons, so they weren’t a good fit for me. Although training isn’t required to become a makeup artist, I wanted to get formal training to ensure that I’ll be doing everything to the best of my ability once I officially began practicing makeup full time.

Once I decided that getting formal training was my best option, I found programs that could help me to gain more knowledge and skill. The school that I chose to ensure that I knew everything needed about makeup and skincare is QC Makeup Academy. QC offers several courses in makeup that specialize in everything from SFX to Airbrush Makeup. I chose to enroll in their skincare, master makeup artistry, and pro makeup courses. Once I’ve completed my assignments and passed all of my courses, I will be formally trained as an internationally certified makeup artist and skin care consultant. I’ll be able to help people all over the world to learn quality information about all things beauty; I’ll also be able to help women in my community to feel even more beautiful by enhancing their beauty with makeup application.

I’ve always loved school; I believe that knowledge is power and gaining an education is invaluable. I’ve spent more than ½ of my life getting a formal education in a traditional learning environment. However, when I decided to go to school for makeup and skincare, I figured it would be more of a non-traditional setting. Makeup school is not at all what I envisioned. I thought getting formal training in makeup would mostly help me to improve my current makeup skills while learning new methods and techniques. Even though, I figured that a portion of learning would be traditional; I assumed that only a small percentage of time would be dedicated to learning about various products, tools, skin types, skin tones and other areas essential to makeup and skincare. Nevertheless, I assumed that most of my hours of study would be spent with hands-on assignments that would help to prepare me for entering the world as a certified makeup artist. I had no idea that the traditional learning portions of my certified makeup artistry and skincare courses would be as in-depth as QC designed their courses to be; I was completely outdone. I received over 30 books and quite a few workbooks that contained several assignments in each. I also received other online assignments plus all of the hands-on learning assignments that I was looking forward too. As much as I anticipated starting makeup school, I was not mentally prepared to have as much traditional schoolwork when I signed up. Now that a few weeks have passed,  I’ve gotten back into the groove of enjoying school and learning things that I can share with others. I completed my first 10 assignments in my skincare course and earned an A+ on them all. Now, I’m preparing to submit my first 10 master makeup artistry assignments as well. I’m looking forward to earning my certifications; nonetheless, I’m just as excited if not more to be gaining expert knowledge on all things beauty and hands-on training to be able to share quality information with you. Stay tuned as I share my Makeup School Diaries experiences here with you.
