When it comes to foundation, it’s typically the one makeup product that most people don’t mind investing more money towards purchasing. We always want to ensure that our foundation provides the best coverage and provides our skin with a flawless finish. High end foundations are known to provide great coverage at a premium price. With that said, most people believe that saving money on foundation means losing the opportunity to get the finish and/or coverage they desire; however, I was able to find that there are some drugstore foundations that give you high-quality coverage and a finish similar to high-end foundations at a fraction of the cost. Therefore, I’m excited to share the 5 top drugstore foundations that will allow you to save money without compromising on the results you love & desire from high end brands. Each of these foundations are loved and highly recommended by beauty gurus all over the world for their various benefits. Stay tuned to find the best drugstore foundation(s) for you. The top 5 drugstore foundations on the market consists of:

1. Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation

Maybelline definitely elevated the drugstore foundation game when they created and released this product. Not only does this foundation give you  a full coverage finish that lasts all day long, but this foundation also provides a smooth matte finish that transforms your skin. The formula of this product goes on smoothly and requires only a little to fully and flawlessly covers your skin including all imperfections. This foundation’s bottle is even designed to replicate high end makeup brands by offering a pump unlike most drugstore foundations. This product is now available in 28 shades to offer coverage to a wider range of skin tones than most other drugstore foundation brands. Maybelline’s Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation retails at $11.99 & can be purchased online at Maybelline.com, here at Amazon.com as well as online and in store with some cosmetic retailers, drugstores & department stores.

2. Milani conceal + Perfect 2-IN-1 Foundation

Milani is a drugstore brand that has a large number of foundations and other makeup products that are highly recommended by beauty gurus all over the world. Although I had previously heard of the company and tried some of their products, none of their other foundations stood up well when compared to high-end brands with the exception of this one. This medium to full coverage foundation works well with any skin type to conceal imperfections and provide a smooth and flawless base. In addition to incorporating a higher quality formula, Milani also designed this foundation with a no drip pump which is a true upgrade for a drugstore foundation. This pump upgrades the design to look and work more like a high-end foundation plus it helps to prevent you from wasting product and reduces mess during application. Milani conceal + Perfect 2-IN-1 Foundation retails at $9.99 & can be purchased online at milanicosmetics.com, here at Amazon.com as well as online and in store with some cosmetic retailers & department stores.

3. Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Foundation Stick

Maybelline is known for putting a lot of quality into their products and their foundations have truly continued to elevate with time as well. This foundation is one of my favorites from Maybelline. It’s easy to use, seamlessly builds to the coverage you desire & lasts all day. This product is designed in the form of a stick unlike most drugstore foundations yet it is similarly styled to look and work like several high end foundations. The formula of this foundation stick is creamy so it seamlessly glides on to the skin, blends easily & transforms to a matte finish as it dries. This foundation works well on all skin types especially oily skin as it instantly dissolves excess oil in the application and drying processes. Maybelline Fit Me shine Free retails at $8.99 & can be purchased online at maybelline.com, here at Amazon.com as well as online and in store with some cosmetic retailers, drugstores and department stores.

4. Covergirl TruBlend Matte Made Liquid Foundation

Although cover girl is a drugstore cosmetic brand known for making well loved cosmetic products, their foundation range hasn’t always been great. One of the biggest disappointments in their foundations prior to this one was it coverage, stay power and range in shades. When the company designed this product, they ensured that they surpassed all of their past discrepancies. With this foundation, Covergirl created a full coverage foundation that comes with a pump, lasts up to 12 hours and is available in 40 well rounded shades. They created a true gem with this product that surpasses most drugstore brand foundations in quality, design, formula, and shade range. This product goes on as a liquid and automatically dries down to a matte finish that doesn’t turn dry or cakey. This foundation works to provide medium to full coverage protection in a formula that absorbs oil, minimizes pores and provides a flawless finish. Covergirl TruBlend Foundation retails at $8.99 and can be purchased online here at Amazon.com plus online and instore with some cosmetic retailers, drugstores and department stores.

5. Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless

This foundation was the first drugstore foundation that I found to have the coverage and quality of a high-end product. This foundation is designed to provide more than just the typical coverage of most drugstore foundations; it also goes beyond skin tone matching to fit the unique texture issues of normal to oily skin to provide an ultimate natural skin fit. This product goes on smoothly, erases pores and absorbs oil as it dried to a naturally matte finish. Maybelline Fit Me is available in 40 diverse shades which offers shades that are more inclusive to all skin tones than a lot of drugstore foundations. This amazing product retails at $7.99 and can be purchased online at maybelline.com, here at Amazon.com in addition to being carried online and instore with some cosmetic retailers, drugstores and department stores.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I’m not familiar with any organic full coverage foundations but I would love to try some to be able to help other readers.

This is a great guide. I am wondering if you can recommend any of these for older ladies. I’ve noticed my wrinkles are accentuated by some foundations. Do you know how these look on “mature” skin?

I use Maybelline Fit Me (Dewy Finish instead of Matte) as well as the Cover Girl TruMatte on my mature clients. Using a skincare routine and a good quality primer prior to foundation application also helps prevent the foundation from settling into fine lines. I definitely need to try more Maybelline foundations. I’ve struggled with them in the past as they have quite pink under tones and with my yellow undertones, whenever I’ve purchased a foundation from them it doesn’t match my neck. I particular need to try their fit me foundation. My favourite drugstore foundations are from bourjois, La girl pro HD and L’Oreal Paris pro glow.

I love Maybelline Foundations but I also had an issue with the shades closest to my skin tone not having the correct undertones. I would previously have to mix shades to get the perfect tone until they extended their lines to offer more range. I’ve never tried the foundations that you mentioned but I’m looking forward to trying them soon. Thanks so much for taking time to read and leave feedback. I truly appreciate it.

This is great! I am always looking for ways to save a little money, but when it comes to make-up it makes me a bit nervous. However, hearing from someone that can speak well of the quality makes me feel better. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for taking a moment to respond. I know that it can be a bit overwhelming to shop for products you’re not familiar with. I’m happy I was able to help ease your nervousness even just a little. If there is an Ulta store near you, they offer all of the foundations mentioned and a vast selection of makeup and all of their products come with a 30 guarantee. If you ever try a product purchased from there and are not satisfied, you can return them within 30 day with a receipt and get your money back with no questions asked; that policy always made me more comfortable with trying makeup out when I first began and it still makes trial and error easy for me now.

I generally do not wear foundation, basically because I never knew which one to choose. Thanks for the great info – now I feel like I can pick one that works for me.

I just bought the Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless, after I read about it on your beauty blog. I tried it, and I loved it. The coverage is pretty impressive, and I love the the foundation is buildable. Also, I love that you also get a great deal of foundation in the bottle. It’s impressive to say that Walmart had it on sale this past weekend for $5.34
